COURSES and WORKSHOPS
I offer a variety of courses, workshops and presentations to students and guilds. My background as a teacher provides the ideal learning opportunity for students to attain new skills, in a safe, caring, learning environment. My presentations and trunk show offers attendees with a review of quilting from the male perspective and links my background in Music, Education and Business. I am particularly proud of the my Architecture of Canada Series, which leads the student in a journey exploring some of Canada's most impressive and iconic buildings and infrastructure.
The Squiffy Sling

The Squiffy Sling is a great pattern that can be made in two sizes. The example above uses Harris Tweed and Cork. In this class you will learn how to work with these products, sew in zippers, use rivets and decorative stitching.

In this class, you can choose from many existing patterns. You will learn how to use the ruler, complete easy curve piecing and squaring up blocks.

Jellybean Row-Signature Houses of St. John's No. 1
This is the first pattern that was created in the Architecture of Canada Series. The two day workshop introduces students to a variety of applique, design and machine piecing and quilting. the course includes 16 hours of instructional time. Pattern is required, and kits are available for purchase.

Light of Hope-Peggy's Cove Light House No. 2
As a child, my family visited Nova Scotia quite frequently. This small wall hanging is based on a photo found on the internet. The photographer is unknown. The finished piece is a wall hanging measuring 18' x 24" and utilizes sewing angulated curved piecing, and applique.

As a child, my family visited PEI quite frequently. This small wall hanging is based on a photo found on the internet. The photo is credited to Stephen Desroches. The finished piece is a wall hanging measuring 24" x 32" and utilizes sewing angulated curved piecing, and applique.

This fun one day class walks students through the process of creating bowls, baskets and vessels. Using strips of fabric, cotton clothesline and a zigzag stitch, you will be amazed with the creations you that will result from various angles, etc. Pattern is required, and kits are available for purchase.

Easy Layer Cake
This one day class is focused on new quilters. The class uses a layer cake to make a "cut and stitch" lap quilt. The class focuses on proper use of your rotary cutting tools, the perfect 1/4 inch seam, layout and design, and adding borders. Pattern is required, and kits are available for purchase.

Life's Symphony Series
This wall hanging can be finished 24"x 24" or 40"x 40". The project utilizes strip piecing in the background and raw edge applique. The abstract violin here represents the symphonic band I conducted from 2000-2009.
